Summer Home Maintenance Checklist
1. Window Replacement
The summer is a good time to start considering window replacements with energy efficient alternatives such as vinyl window replacements. This can help conserve energy and your budget! With vinyl window replacements, you won’t need to repaint them regularly. If it gets scratched or chipped, it won’t show as the material is the same throughout.
2. Doors
During the winter, the doors stand up to the harsh weather and may be showing signs of “wear and tear”. If this is the case, you can repaint the door and give it a fresh new look and perhaps a new colour. Consider an energy efficient replacement door to help conserve energy and your budget!
3. Driveway
Repair any cracks in the driveway with the appropriate filler for either asphalt, brick, or concrete. If the too many cracks have been filled over years, it’s best to resurface the entire driveway with tar or asphalt.
4. Roof
Your roof should be checked regularly, at least once annually. Check for any loose or damaged shingles and get repairs as needed. Clean out the gutters of any leaves or debris that may of have built up.
5. Garage
Give the garage a good clean up. Sweep out any dirt or debris and properly dispose of any unused chemicals or hazardous material that may be sitting around. Once the garage floor has been cleared of all debris, consider if you need to repaint the floor or simply add a coat of sealant. This job really depends on how much wear is showing after the winter. There may be no maintenance to the floor and maybe you’d like to add some shelving and room for organization.
