The Canada Greener Homes Grant comes as a part of the federal government’s agenda to tackle climate change. The grant will be worth up to $2.6B over the course of the next seven years. Through a series of grants, the government gives Ontario homeowners an opportunity to reduce energy usages and grow their savings.
One of the programs offered in the Canada Greener Homes Grant is a rebate to homeowners who retrofit their windows with high performance energy efficient windows.

Any homeowner in Ontario qualifies for the grant. You cannot get grants for past installations. A new window unit can be installed onto the existing frame of an old window but replacements of only glass, sash, door without a frame are not eligible.

You must purchase your windows from a government approved, ENERGY STAR certified supplier. Up to 700,000 grants to help homeowners make energy efficient retrofits to their homes are currently being granted. This grant is set to run for 7 years; however, updates will be provided about the life of this initiative to keep the homeowners informed.
The government started the Canada Greener Homes Grant to help Canadians make where they live more energy-efficient. The grant was initiated believing it would make greener homes, create more employment, grow domestic green supply chains and help fight climate change.
You will receive your cheque of reimbursement within a month of your upgrades being certified. Homeowners can submit their post retrofit application once the upgrades are done through their window installation supplier.
